Privacy Notice for Job Applicants
Last updated: August 27,2026

Power Public Schools, Inc. is a tuition-free public charter school opening in South Cobb County on August 2, 2027, serving grades 6–12.

Thank you for considering us. This notice explains what information we collect when you apply for a job here, what we do with it, who sees it, and what you can ask us to do. It is not a contract and does not change the at-will nature of employment.

What we collect
From you: your name and contact information, your resume, your work history and education, your certifications and Georgia educator credentials, the position you applied for, your answers to application questions, any written or recorded responses you submit, your availability, and your compensation expectations.

From our hiring platforms: we use Spark Hire for applications and interviews and LinkedIn for recruiting. Information you enter there comes to us, along with the record of your application.

From other people: referrals from our staff or partners, recruiters or agencies who submit you, and the references you give us when we reach that stage.

From a background screening company, once you have a conditional offer — see below.

Please do not send us these
At the application stage we do not need, and do not ask for, your Social Security number, date of birth, financial account information, medical information, or information about your race, religion, disability, or other protected characteristics. If you are hired, we will collect what the law requires to bring you on board.

If we invite you to voluntarily share demographic information for equal-employment reporting, it is optional, it is kept separate from your application, and the people making the hiring decision do not see it.

Video and recorded interviews
Some of our openings use a one-way video interview, where you record answers to set questions on your own time. If a role uses one, we will tell you before you start.

Your recording is reviewed by the hiring manager and the interview team for that role, and no one else. We do not use facial analysis, emotion detection, or any tool that scores you from your face, voice, or expressions. Recordings are kept with the rest of your application and deleted on the same schedule.

How we use your information
To review your application, schedule and conduct interviews, check your references and credentials, run the background checks the law requires, communicate with you about where things stand, make a hiring decision, meet our recordkeeping obligations, and — if we hire you — start your employment file.

A person decides. Always.
We do not use artificial intelligence or any automated system to reject candidates or to make final hiring decisions. Where a hiring platform offers scoring, ranking, or summary features, we treat the output as a note, not a verdict, and every decision about your candidacy is made by a person who has looked at your actual application. This is the same human-oversight rule our Governing Board adopted for how we use AI with students.

Background checks
Any offer we make is contingent on satisfactory completion of the criminal history records check and other pre-employment screening required by Georgia law and by our charter contract with Cobb County School District. Working in a school carries this requirement; it is not discretionary on our part.

If we use an outside screening company, we will give you a separate written disclosure and ask for your written permission first, as the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act requires. If something in a report might cause us to withdraw an offer, we will send you a copy of the report and a summary of your rights, and give you a chance to respond before we make a final decision.

Background check results are kept separately from your regular file and seen only by the people who need them.

Who sees your information
Our hiring team — the people running the search and interviewing for the role.
Our service providers — Spark Hire, LinkedIn, and the vendors who run our payroll, benefits, and HR systems, each of which may use your information only as we instruct.
Our Governing Board, for the Executive Director position and any other matter the Board decides, in closed session where Georgia's Open Meetings Act permits.
Whoever referred you, limited to general status — we will confirm that you applied or were hired, not share your materials.
Government agencies and our authorizer, where required for certification, background clearance, audit, or compliance.
Our legal, insurance, and audit advisors, where necessary.
We do not sell candidate information. We do not share it with other employers. We do not send it outside the United States except as our service providers' normal operations require.

We are a public school, and that matters here
Power Public Schools is a public entity, and our records — including employment records — can be subject to Georgia's Open Records Act. When we receive a request, we redact the information the law protects, including Social Security numbers, medical and insurance information, home address, personal telephone number, and financial account numbers, before releasing anything.

We tell you this up front because you are entitled to know it before you apply, not after.

How long we keep your information
If you are hired, your application becomes part of your employment record and is kept for as long as employment records must be kept.

If you are not hired, we keep your application for 365 days after the hiring decision, because federal and state rules require us to be able to show how we made it. After that we delete it or strip it of anything that identifies you.

You can ask us to remove your information sooner. Write to us at the address below and we will honor the request unless a legal obligation requires us to keep the record — and if that is the case, we will tell you what it is and when it ends.

Your choices
You may ask us to:

send you a copy of the application information we hold about you;
correct anything that is wrong;
remove your information, subject to the limits above;
withdraw your candidacy at any point; or
stop sending you notices about future openings.
Ask by writing to the contact below. We will confirm we received your message within five business days and respond within 30 days.
