Consent for SMS Communication

Power Public Schools (“PPS,” “we,” “us,” or “the School”) may use SMS text messaging to communicate important school, enrollment, event, and family-related information to prospective families, enrolled families, guardians, students where appropriate, and other authorized contacts.

By providing your mobile phone number and opting in to receive text messages from Power Public Schools, you consent to receive SMS communications at the number you provide.

Mobile phone numbers, SMS consent information, and opt-in data will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Types of SMS Communications

If you have consented to receive text messages from Power Public Schools, you may receive communications related to:

• Enrollment and application reminders
• Lottery and enrollment updates
• Information sessions and school events
• Family engagement opportunities
• Orientation and registration reminders
• School schedule updates
• School closures, delays, or weather-related announcements
• Safety alerts and emergency notifications
• Attendance notifications once the school is operational
• General school announcements and updates

“Power Public Schools reminder: Our Virtual Family Information Session begins Thursday at 6:00 PM. Reply STOP to opt out. Message and data rates may apply.”

Message frequency may vary based on school activities and your relationship with Power Public Schools.

Standard message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and service plan.

FERPA and Student Privacy

Power Public Schools is committed to protecting student and family information.

In accordance with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), SMS messages will not include sensitive personally identifiable student information such as grades, disciplinary records, special education records, medical information, or other protected education records.

When sensitive student information needs to be discussed, families will be directed to an appropriate secure communication method.

Data Sharing

Mobile opt-in information, SMS consent records, and phone numbers collected for SMS communications will be used for Power Public Schools communications and related operational purposes.

Power Public Schools will not sell SMS consent information or phone numbers to third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

Service providers that assist Power Public Schools in delivering communications may process information only as necessary to provide those services and subject to applicable privacy and security requirements.

Opt-In Methods

Individuals may opt in to Power Public Schools SMS communications through methods including:

• Providing a mobile number and consent through an enrollment or interest form
• Completing an electronic or paper consent form
• Submitting information through the Power Public Schools website
• Registering for a school event or information session and providing SMS consent
• Responding with an affirmative keyword such as “YES” when prompted by text

Consent to receive SMS messages is not a condition of applying to or enrolling in Power Public Schools.

Opt-Out Methods

You may opt out of SMS messages from Power Public Schools at any time by:

• Replying "STOP" to a Power Public Schools text message
• Replying with another supported opt-out keyword such as QUIT, CANCEL, END, or UNSUBSCRIBE
• Contacting Power Public Schools directly and requesting removal from SMS communications

After opting out, you may receive a final confirmation message acknowledging your request.

You may opt back in by replying "START" where supported or by providing consent again through an authorized Power Public Schools communication channel.

Opting out of SMS communications does not automatically opt you out of email, phone calls, enrollment platform notifications, or other school communications.

SMS Fraud Protection

Power Public Schools will never ask you through an unsolicited SMS message to provide sensitive information such as:

• Passwords or login credentials
• Social Security numbers
• Bank account information
• Credit or debit card numbers
• Student medical information
• Special education records
• Government-issued identification documents

If you receive a suspicious message claiming to be from Power Public Schools, do not provide sensitive information or click unfamiliar links. Contact Power Public Schools directly through the contact information listed on our official website.

Updates to These Terms

Power Public Schools may periodically update these SMS Terms of Service to reflect changes in school operations, technology, communication practices, or legal requirements.
